🏆 Gene Dewey Refugee Award 2025
Since June 2024, an innovative rehabilitation program has been launched in Poland to support children with various disabilities. The program focuses on children with autism, Down syndrome, developmental delay, and motor function disorders, with special consideration for the needs of Ukrainian refugee children who have found safety in Poland.
As part of this program, the “Hippotherapy” project was initiated and is carried out with the support of UNHCR Poland, Lublin office. Hippotherapy — a form of therapy involving horses — is a recognized rehabilitation method that supports children’s physical, emotional, and social development. Interaction with horses and horseback riding help improve coordination, motor skills, balance, emotional regulation, and social abilities.
The program not only provides therapy but also creates a safe and inclusive environment for the integration of children from different backgrounds, which is extremely important for building community, mutual understanding, and support. The activities aim not only at rehabilitation but also at improving the quality of life of children and their families.
We encourage you to follow the progress of the program and take part in events organized within its framework. Together we can create better conditions for children with disabilities and their families.
